New rules on foreign trade that took effect in April include:

01. The United States extended the validity of additional tariffs on 99 products

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) on December 22, 2020 released a list of four batches of medical products excluded from the expiration date extension. 02. The United States fully implements import core information data collection

03. Brazil lowered import tariffs on some capital goods, information and communications products

06. Tanzania implements new local inspection measures for imported vehicles

The Tanzania Bureau of Standards said local tests on imported vehicles began in early April. The Bureau of Standards has stopped providing PVOC (Pre-shipment Verification) to foreign inspection bodies since February 28, and all imported vehicles purchased after that date will have to be tested in Tanzania. The importer will pay the Bureau of Standards $150 per vehicle for testing.

The TSA said local testing of imported cars was carried out to increase government revenue. In the implementation of the pre-shipment inspection system, foreign inspection agencies will transfer 30% of the inspection fee to the Tanzanian government. Local testing will be carried out in the future, and all testing costs will be owned by the Tanzanian government.

07. The Eurasian Economic Union adjusted import tariffs on some products

The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission recently adopted the following resolution:

08. Uzbekistan temporarily lifts tariff on imported cement

Uzbek President Mirziyoyev signed a presidential decree suspending the imposition of tariffs on imported cement from April 1 to October 1, 2021, the Uzbek newspaper website reported recently.

09. Oman implements a 5% VAT

On 7 January 2021, the Oman Tax Authority announced an administrative decision to impose a 5% Value-Added Tax (VAT) with effect from 16 April 2021.

Zero VAT is payable on 94 items, including meat, fish, poultry, dairy products, eggs, fruits and vegetables, coffee beans, tea, cardamom, cereals, olive oil, sugar, baby food, bread, bottled water and salt. Services such as education, health care and financial services will be exempt from VAT.

10. Bangladesh has cracked down on money laundering in the trade sector

Under the Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Control Act (1947), the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on March 10 issued regulations to crack down on money laundering in the field of import and export trade. According to the latest International Financial Integrity Report, 80% of money laundering crimes in Bangladesh are related to false invoicing. The report estimates that between 2008 and 2017, Bangladesh lost $7.53 billion in funds due to overinvoicing in the trade sector.

11. New FBA regulations for Amazon's UK site
